Installing it
- Tap Download on your phone. Chrome may warn that this type of file can harm your device. It says that about every app that does not come from the Play Store; tap Download anyway.
- Open the file when it finishes. The first time, Android asks you to let your browser install apps. Allow it for this install; you can switch it off again afterwards under Settings, Apps, Special app access, Install unknown apps.
- Tap Install, then Open. SyphonGames is on your home screen from then on.
What the app is
It is this site, running on your phone's own Chrome engine with the browser taken away from around it. That is deliberate, and it is why the app is so small:
- Every game plays exactly as it does here. Same engine and same controls, full screen included.
- New games arrive without an update. The moment a game is on the site it is in the app.
- Nothing to grant. The app asks for no permissions at all, and it collects nothing the website does not. The privacy policy covers both.
Good to know
- It works best with Chrome installed. With another browser it still opens, sometimes with that browser's address bar along the top.
- Updating it. The app itself rarely changes. When it does, download it again from this page and install it over the old one. Nothing is lost.
- Not on Google Play yet, which is why it installs from here.
- On an iPhone or iPad? There is no app for those. Open the site in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen, and it gets an icon of its own.
